The active sensor system uses scans (it projects EM against a target and analyses any returned EM) to provide data on the shape/configuration and composition of objects in space.
There are two types of scan. A low-power scan (so called because it uses lower radio-band EM for scans) provides data about the exterior of an object.
A high power scan (which uses high frequency ionising-band EM for scans) provides data about the interior of an object.

Simulator points are an internal 'currency' that allow crew to book simulator time.
Crew are allocated new simulator points each month (depending on their membership or subscription type) and can use those points to book simulator time for themselves and others.
Crew training will be critical to mission success, but technical manuals and operating procedures aren’t enough. Simulating deep space operating conditions as closely as possible will allow the crew to go beyond basic technical knowledge and begin developing tactics and strategies.
Several major vessel systems output EM radiation at detectable levels. MIE (impulse) engines output significant amounts of EM across UV, IR and magnetic bands, for example.
Each emitting system has an EM Output profile which determines how much EM is output at a given power or operating level, across all five EM bands.
The Impulse Navigation module is a backend API that calcuates vessel movement on a impulse navigation grid based on thrust and bearing variables set by console controls. The module pulls data on the vessel's current location, heading and speed as part of calculations.
Hunter/Killer simulations are simple but challenging exercises that have two teams trying to track down each other within a set area of space. The first team to acquire a firing solution on the other wins. This is a common training and evaluation simulation used by submarines.
The simulations will initially be as simple as possible and then incrementally grow in scope and complexity as new functionality becomes available.
