Simplified Career Options

We recently updated the careers section of the crew website to simplify crew roles and map them directly to their bridge station so it 's a great time to take a fresh look at how you could work with the ISDC!

COVID Update

You'll have noticed that we've been pretty quiet during the NSW lockdown. We've been busy - more on that below - and now that we have some post-lockdown visibility, our plan is to move cautiously towards commencing training and making the simulator available for missions.

Crew Teams

Academy teams allow members with complementary skills and interests to form crews for simulation missions, with each crew member taking a simulator post based on their training and qualifications.

Depending on the scenario’s requirements a simulation crew might need rated specialists across helm, tactical, operations, engineering and science systems, so having a good mix of ratings will mean a greater choice of mission scenarios.

Sim Upgrade

The phase one simlator recently completed is already in for an upgrade, but following crew feedback our plans have changed from a two-sim facility to a single, larger simulator.

Remote Sims

As fantastic as the new simulation facility is, it makes sense to be able to come up to speed on ship systems in private. Remote simulation access is now available!

Ready for Action

Crew training will be critical to mission success, but technical manuals and operating procedures aren’t enough. Simulating deep space operating conditions as closely as possible will allow the crew to go beyond basic technical knowledge and begin developing tactics and strategies.

Training & Development

The ISDC is not strictly a military organisation but operates a military-style chain of command as the most appropriate model for the dangerous, distant and unpredictable environment in deep space.

Providing the skills and experience necessary to undertake missions in that environment is as high a priority for the ISDC as building Endeavour.

Starting with the Academy, training programs, mentoring and practical experience support members in achieving their potential.

Academy Simulator Peek

The COVID shutdown might have interrupted our plans to let members try out our new simulator prototype, but it also gave us time to come up with something bigger and much better. Here's a first look at what we've just launched.

Academy Course Enrolment CTA Publish Process

Each available academy course should have a Call-to-Action (CTA) button, which allows crew to apply to enrol with a single click. The button will send an email with the username and target course to the admin email address for further action.

Unfortunately, the process for adding these buttons cannot be automated and involves a number of steps. This is not something an instructor is expected to do.

When a course is created, the platform support team should be contacted with the URL to the course so that they can add the CTA button.
