Previously tactical officer Neeraj Anahira took us through the process of achieving an EMDAR track on an opponent vessel, known as a ‘hunt’. In this post he describes the ‘kill’ – preparing and firing a torpedo that hits its target (without putting his own vessel in danger).
At this week's sim meetup we'll be taking another look at the torpedo system - this time torpedo launch and prosecution. Come in and try your hand at deep space combat!
This Saturday's sim meetup will feature a preview of the torpedo system, which is expected to be available in the simulator in the next couple of weeks.
This is a first look at a firing solution calculator prototype. This will be used to calculate the ideal combination of range and speed for a torpedo launch in order to hit its target (a “prosecution”).
BZ to Slydev for qualifying for the Long Service Medal (LSM), which was awarded today.
Slydev has been working on the design of Endeavour's main armament - torpedoes. Prototype systems based on Slydev's work are now in production - more news on that soon!
