Deck five is one of two decks that house main crew accommodations (forward) and the main engineering deck (aft).
The bulk of crew accommodation on this deck is configured for crew, which includes a shared bathroom between two cabins.
A number of junior officer cabins are also located on this deck.
Forward of the firewall is the galley, the vessel's main food preparation and dining space, linked to the deck 6 crew bar and lounge via a staircase.
Attached to the galley are dry and refrigerated storage for food required for preparation (supplied from cargo bays on deck 2).
Two configurable recreation spaces are located on this deck.
Typically rec area one is configured as a gymnasium including a range of cardio machines, cable/weight machines, free weights, boxing bags, etc.
Rec area two is re-configurable to support a range of ball/court sports (in restricted area formats) or mat-based activities.
On the starboard side of the citadel is the vessel's main security office, including three brig berths and a small arms armoury.
One of the ship's data centres containg computer processing, digital storage and other equipment.
The rest of the citadel houses the main engineering operational centre where engineering management systems are controlled from.
This deck has direct access to the lower impulse engines and to the upper structure of the vessel's fusion reactor (which spans this deck and deck 6).
The executive engineer has an office on this deck which is next to a small conference/project room.
The auxiliary CAR includes redundant replicas of key engineering control systems that can take over their functions should the main control systems become damaged or inoperable.
Articicial gravity is generated for decks 5 through 7.
